Download of the ERNA-3D Demo Version

You are invited to download the ERNA-3D Demo Version which is valid for 1 month.

The Demo Version is compatible to IRIX 6.x on most SGI workstations.

The Demo shows the most important features of ERNA-3D

and permits the interested user to create complicated molecular structures

within minutes. Beyond that the user learns the unique interactive behaviour of

ERNA-3D by using the three-dimensional cursor called the "Selector" and

he/she can view the created structures in real three dimensions.

Hints for the installation

After you have downloaded the file "ERNA-3D_DV.tar.Z" please uncompress it

using the IRIX shell command "uncompress ERNA-3D_DV.tar.Z". After that,

please un-tar the created file in a chosen destination directory by using the

command "tar xpf ERNA-3D_DV.tar".

After the TAR-programme has created all necessary sub-directories, please

change your working directory to "erna_3d". Eventually it could be necessary to

change the permissions of the extracted files, so that you can read and execute

them. Please change these permissions by using the command "chmod -R a+rx *".

The ERNA-3D Demo Software is started by the command "ERNA-3D"

which is typed into the console window of your SGI workstation.

After ERNA-3D has been started an "Startup Animation" will be executed by

ERNA-3D which explains the extraordinary capabilites of the ERNA-3D

software.

This Startup Animation can be terminated by the (long) pressing of the <ESC>-key

or by renameing the file "ERNA-3D-DEMO.cmd" in the sub-directory "cmddir".

Notes concerning the Stereo Mode

Due to the differences between the Graphics Hardware of the SGI workstations

it is often necessary to choose the correct "setmon" commands which switch

to and fro the Stereo Mode of the computer monitor.

Please note that the ERNA-3D software reads and executes a file called

"stereo.erna" which can be found in the sub-directory "ernadir".

If you have problems to switch to and fro the correct Stereo Mode with your

computer screen, please overwrite the file "stereo.erna" with one of the files

"stereo.erna_INDIGO2, "stereo.erna_OCTANE" or "stereo.erna_ONYX2" which

you will also find in this sub-directory. Only the file "stereo.erna" will be executed

by the ERNA-3D software.

Please ensure that you have checked in advance that your computer monitor is

capable of to be switched to the Stereo Mode (the maximum picture repeating rate

must be at least 120 Hz) otherwise it could be damaged!

WE DO NOT ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SUCH DAMAGES!!!

But most of the computer monitors from Silicon Graphics are capable of to be

switched into the Stereo Mode.
